Report a problem from the map
Create a geolocated task in seconds from the terrain map, even without coverage.
When you come across a fallen tree, a broken plank or an eroded section, there is nothing to write down on paper. The app creates the task exactly where you are standing, and it keeps it even if you have no coverage.
Where: mobile app, the Terrain view — the home screen.
The Terrain view
The Terrain view is the home screen of the mobile app. It shows your trails, the tasks already reported, the structures on record, and your own position.

- 1The active place and current view. Tap the pill to switch place or view.
- 2The task-type filter. Tap an icon to show only that type on the map.
- 3A task already reported. The icon shows its type — erosion, in this case.
- 4The create button. This is your starting point for everything you add.
Type filters stack: tap several icons to show several types at once. An icon ringed in green is active. Tap it again to turn it off.
Create the task
Tap the + button, bottom right. The map fades out and a fan of choices opens above the button.
The create button, fan open.
- 1Up to five choices: to-do, task, project, structure, report.
- 2The + button. Tap it again to close.
You won't necessarily get all five: each entry only appears if your role may create that kind of item. A volunteer who can only report will see To-do and Task alone.
To report a problem, it's Task.
Pick the position. By default the app uses your GPS position. You can move it on the map if the problem sits a few metres away from you.
Attach it to the right trail. If your position is close to a trail, the app suggests it automatically. Check that suggestion — it is what makes the task show up in the right trail's reports.
Document it. Add the type, a priority, a photo and a description. A photo often beats a paragraph: whoever picks the task up will know what to bring.
Without coverage
If you have no signal, nothing changes in the flow: the task is created, visible right away, and queued. It leaves for the server as soon as the connection is back.
You can see what is still waiting to be sent in the sync screen, from your account settings.
